His mother had been to Chipinge and had heard a missionary speak. She related to Handinawangu (Ezekiel Guti) what she had heard. “The Missionary said we were all sinners and that we would suffer for our sins, he said there was a place called hell that was nothing but fire, and all sinners would go there”. “What can we do about our sins?” Asked Handi “I don’t know. I didn’t hear him say what we could do” his mother replied. That night was to be a sleepless night for Handi. The story, with all its hopelessness, struck a chord within him. He would dream of this fire and awaken frightened, What could he do? There was no preacher nearby who could ansHe would get to the jungle and weep bitterly over his condition of sin and lack of knowledge. He was alone with his deep ache and these hopeless tears.
He returned often to the jungle retreat. During one of those times of weeping and seeking God he heard something he had never heard before. Thick beautiful music began to play in the surrounding air. This music was different! He got engrossed in this strange, unique beautiful sound and suddenly, an angel appeared to him and said ‘Fear not and Sin not’. It was adequate for him to know that God was realm alive and listening………………..
Later, Mbuya Dorcas got saved through the preaching of her son, who also baptized her in water. Sweet grandma, loveable and fervent in spirit.
Today we celebrate a great vision! Apostle Ezekiel Guti’s ministry has preached the gospel all over the world. He has opened thousands of churches, Bible Colleges, Schools, Colleges and is the visionary of the great vision to build Mbuya Dorcas Hospital and Health Centre.
We cannot fail to recognize the outstanding role Apostle Ezekiel Guti’s mother played. It is in honour and remembrance of her, that Mbuya Dorcas Hospital, is named, so that our children’s children will know why.
